Stevia is a natural sweetener and sugar substitute derived from the leaves of the plant species Stevia rebaudiana, native to Paraguay and Brazil. The active compounds are steviol glycosides, which have about 50 to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, and are heat-stable, pH-stable, and not fermentable.
Since it's so sweet, it may take some trial and error to get the texture and level of sweetness you like.
For first-time use, simply drop 2-3 leaves of stevia on your cup, or put them in a tea bag, or infuser ball. Check the level of sweetness you like and simply remove the leaves from your cup.
Precaution: Whole-leaf stevia and crude stevia extract, including stevia you’ve grown at home, are unsafe to use if you’re pregnant. Please consult your doctor before intake.
